Future proof, if/when it gets added natively too it'll just carry on with no reconfig. brandon

We've already established that the people who want a complete dhcpv6 do not care, they are going to maintain their dhcp server as much as their router, they are equally robust to the same degree of arm waving that the router is robust. That this is still being asked for in dhcp should be enough to convince people IETF "RA is all you'll ever need" mind tricks aren't going to make them go away. I say they as I work on both sides. I know today we have to work with what's been specced though we can choose how to implement them and continue to raise the issues for future development rather than let them be swept aside. brandon

For architectural and building management reasons we cannot mount our antennas in a rooftop or outdoor location at either end. The distance between two buildings is 1.5 km, and the fresnel zone is clear. Antennas need to be located indoors at both ends and will be placed on small speaker stand tripod pointing at windows. This has been done successfully before with 2.4 GHz 802.11g equipment and a link from an office in the Westin to a nearby apartment building, but I am unsure of what effect glass will have on 5 GHz. Has anyone tried this? The goal of this link is to achieve a 10 Mbps+ full duple bridge to a building which is only serviced by ADSL2+ Telus service in a Western Canadian city. Telus' upstream speed offering do not exceed 1 Mbps. Equipment. AS numbers and multiple site best practices

Are there any best practices or guidelines surrounding whether or not one should use the same or unique AS numbers when advertising via BGP from 2 or more physically separate locations? Each location would be advertising at least their own unique /24. My specific scenario is that we are moving our QA Lab to a datacenter that we will multi-home with two providers via BGP. We also plan to multi-home our corporate office with two providers (not likely to be the same providers) also via BGP. We currently have an AS that is in use for our multi-homed production data center. In the interest of keeping production totally segregated from QA/corp I would prefer to not use our production datacenter AS for our QA Lab or corporate network, but I've had trouble finding any technical reason not to use it. ARIN is asking for a detailed technical explanation to justify my request. Thanks in advance, -andy
