New transit tests

Hi everyone. This is my first post here in Nanog. First of all, sorry my bad english -- I'm Brazilian. We are activating a new transit connection with 40 Mbps and I need to test it, but here in Brazil all the international transits are weak. I'm looking for a server that I can download/upload with full speed at New York or Miami, places that this transit have presence in some NAP/IXP (interconnections). Can be one url with a file of 1GB 'dd' generated file, but the server need to have this bandwidth avaliable. Someone can help me ? Thanks in advance. Regards, -- Eduardo Schoedler

SFP vs. SFP+

I was asked today what the difference between SFP and SFP+ is. I did really know, so I looked it up and it seems that the SFP spec provides capabilities for data rates up to 4.25Gb/s, whereas SFP+ supports up to 10Gb/s. Naturally, this made me wonder whether or not an optic that supported 10GbE always conformed to the SFP+ standard inherently, or if there are cases where a 10GbE optic might only support the SFP standard, thus having a 4.25Gb/s bottleneck.

Is it possible to order a ISDN BRI line from the LEC and have them look at the design of a DS1 and have them if possible design the ISDN BRI lineon a devurse path or at lest different equipment within the CO?

AT&T MPLS / BIB Routers

We just put in a AT&T MPLS and are having a pretty negative experience with the "Business in a Box" routers they are using for our smaller sites. We are seeing extremely high latency under load. Anyone have any experience with these devices that could shed some light on this? Are they really this bad?

Solar flare to reach earth
