6453 routing leaks (January and Today)

It appears there have been a large number of routing leaks from 6453 today based on my detection scripts that have been running. (shameless plug for http://puck.nether.net/bgp/leakinfo.cgi) A quick report of the data show (for today so far) a few thousand of leaks more than is normal for a day like today. I included a snapshot of yesterday below as well. I've included a more detailed report of the prefixes observed involved here: http://puck.nether.net/~jared/tata-leak-20110224.txt This seems to be a somewhat common event for 6453, loking through the history of data available, another event happened on 2011-01-28 as well. There has been a bad Earthquake in Christchurch New Zealand with reports of fatalities. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150099324847752&set=a.125583977751… Telecom New Zealand reports "Heavy damage" to their Christchurch building, but no deaths there. Is there any report of issues with the undersea cables to / from the South Island ? Regards Marshall P.S. Telecom New Zealand has asked people to stay off of the wireless network except for true emergencies.

Does anyone know if there is a route-server for AS 20001 available? All I can find is TW (4323). The real problem is getting hams to stop wearing the cheesy gear with their callsigns all over it, the antenna hat toppers, LED scrolling name badges, and - for the love of everything holy - to put an end to the phrase "HI HI" once and for all. I've had slightly more experience in commercial and public safety comms than I have as a ham, as my elmers (ham radio mentors) worked on commercial radio systems by trade. Now, after working with the ARES/RACES groups in the area as part of my position with the state emergency management agency, I can tell you that I am, at times, ashamed to call myself a ham, because of the ridiculous (often even downright childish) behavior some display. The bottom line: If you can get hams to stop acting so self-righteous about their hobby, to practice passing traffic (messages read aloud and copied over the air) so they can do so efficiently (most hams don't have a clue how), get them certified in NIMS (the National Incident Management System, certification available for anyone online at <http://training.fema.gov>), and teach them to display some degree of professionalism - the "bigger picture" will begin to emerge, and the focus will return to providing a service to the community...which is where it needs to be to begin with. Infrastructure addresses definition

How do you define infrastructure addresses in your network? Ok, probably router loopbacks are some of them. Router LANs also. But what about addresses used on WAN (or LAN p2p) links that are used for interconnections with customers? What about addresses used for public servers (dns, mail, web, etc)? Do you consider these as infrastructure addresses? If yes, how do you define your iACLs with these included? Regards, Tassos

Verizon MPLS service in Anchorage

Hello, I've got a bunch of sites connected to the Verizon Private IP MPLS service, and recently brought online a location in Anchorage connected to the brand-new PE node in the same city. I'm seeing that packets marked as DSCP EF are given fantastic treatment (low jitter, no packet loss), but other packets, including AF41, AF31, and BE are given what appears to be the "junk bucket" treatment. I'm having a difficult time getting anyone to acknowledge this problem, but it's causing interactive applications to be unusable for times of the day. Can anyone point me in a good direction? thanks.
