------------------------------------------------------------
ARIN is a Diamond Sponsor of NANOG 98 and our latest partner
spotlight. A nonprofit member-based organization, ARIN manages the
distribution of IP addresses and Autonomous System Numbers across the
United States, Canada, and many Caribbean and North Atlantic
territories. Their work underpins how networks in the region operate
and grow—and their team will be in Miami.

** Get to know Miami before you arrive
------------------------------------------------------------
Miami is one of the most important internet infrastructure hubs in the
Western Hemisphere, home to NAP of the Americas, where roughly 90% of
Caribbean and Latin American traffic connects to the rest of the
world. It’s also sunny, walkable, and full of good food.
We put together a guide to Miami’s history, infrastructure role, and
what to do while you’re there, from Cuban coffee in Little Havana to
street art in Wynwood.

** Why Miami? It's all about the infrastructure
------------------------------------------------------------
A few blocks from downtown Miami sits a wide gray six-story building
most people walk past without a second thought. Inside is NAP of the
Americas: 750,000 square feet of network hardware, and the facility
that carries roughly 90 percent of Central and South America's data
traffic to the rest of the world.
That's a big part of why NANOG 98 is in Miami, and why the spotlight
topic is International Connectivity. In our latest blog, we dig into
the history of the NAP of the Americas and Miami's role in global
internet infrastructure.
