Hello Everyone:> As Philip Smith indicated... a few more update messages to the community will be coming, and here is one of them. First, Merit would like to draw your attention to the Hotel Reservation link http://nanog.org/meetings/nanog44/hotel.php An IMPORTANT NOTE to be aware of is, the Hotel room block rate EXPIRES on FRIDAY, Sept. 19! Merit has reserved rooms for the community, so please do reserve your room before the deadline. Just an easy click away. So now that you have reserved your room, you should check out the updated NANOG44 meeting agenda. http://nanog.org/meetings/nanog44/agenda.php Highlights include: Updated presentations and content information, along with meeting room assignments. Soon, Merit will also highlight which presentations will be broadcast and which will be encoded for future reference. For the first time while at NANOG, Merit will have a room assigned to view the Fall 2008 Internet2 Member Meeting netcast. There are evening events on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!! And we have a very exciting joint session with ARIN on Wednesday morning. Lastly, the NANOG-Attendee(a)nanog.org email list will help you keep in touch with each other. It will also be the distribution method for sharing additional site and meeting specific information. Make sure if you are attending, you are subscribed!! Again, on behalf of Merit Network, the NANOG SC and PC, we encourage you to attend this exciting meeting. We are confident this is one meeting you will not want to miss !! Call for volunteers for the NANOG PC

Hi everyone, There are going to be a few announcements over the next few days regarding all things NANOG, so please bear with us! Thanks to all who volunteered for the Steering Committee - the list of candidates to join the three continuing Steering Committee members is at http://www.nanog.org/governance/elections/2008elections/2008sc_candidates.p…. We will be holding elections during NANOG 44 in LA to determine who will join the Steering Committee. Now to the Program Committee! Here is your chance to help shape the future of the NANOG program content. NANOG Program Committee The NANOG Program Committee is a group of sixteen individuals from the NANOG community who together are responsible for the solicitation and selection of material for NANOG meeting Programs. A new NANOG Program Committee will be selected by the NANOG Steering Committee after the Steering Committee election in October. Eight positions are to be filled, and the Steering Committee is now seeking nominations. Per the NANOG charter (6.2.1), eligible candidates are individuals who have attended at least one NANOG meeting in the past 12 months (i.e. one or more of NANOG 42, NANOG 43 or NANOG 44). Broad technical knowledge of Internet operations and familiarity with NANOG meetings are useful attributes. Having constructive opinions and ideas about how NANOG meetings might be improved is of high value. If you are interested in nominating someone else or yourself, please send a brief note to nominations(a)nanog.org. The note should include the nominee's contact details, and a brief description of why (in your opinion) the individual concerned would be a good addition to the Program Committee. The Steering Committee will accept nominations received before the conclusion of NANOG 44 on October 14. Important Reminders and Announcement

Dear NANOG Community: Just a few reminders and a news item. The deadline for Steering Committee Nominations is near, Tue 2008-09-09. Complete election information is available on the NANOG website. The new process will work if many are involved... nudge: A great NANOG44 agenda is now posted. Make sure to check it out and register!! Merit, along with the entire NANOG community, appreciates the involvement and support from our sponsors. If you are interested, please send email to nanog-support(a)nanog.org, as a few sponsorship opportunities for NANOG44 remain. Do not miss out on your opportunity to be part of this meeting. As many of you know, Merit has been working to improve the NANOG.ORG website. We are very pleased to announce the new site will be launched on Thursday morning, Sept. 4, at 7 am EST. Members of the NANOG Steering Committee have been working with Merit, and we hope all issues have been resolved. We believe the community will find the new site to be much more useful. "I think the website looks great, is very professional, and a huge leap forward in functionality and usability", Philip Smith-SC Chair. New features include: - Graphic and Text version of the web site - New presentation archive that allows for searching by NANOG meeting, year, presenter and more. - "Print This" feature, which will strip away page navigation for easier printing. - Easier web site navigation and improved appearance - RSS Feeds and much more! The meeting archive and presentation archive are still being completed, but you will soon be able to access the remaining past meeting information. Thanks for being a part of NANOG. We hope you check out the new site and use it to keep in touch with important issues surrounding the Internet and the NANOG community.
