Hi NANOGers, Thanks to everyone who has thrown their hat into the ring for the NANOG Steering Committee! If you were nominated and had not yet sent in your bio or confirmation, please take a moment today to do so by sending mail to <nominations(a)nanog.org>. For the list, see http://www.nanog.org/governance/elections/2009elections/2009sc_candidates.p… As Dave posted previously, the PC nominations are currently open. If you think you or someone you know could help continue to improve the conference, send your nominations to <nominations(a)nanog.org>. After the election, the new Steering Committee will appoint people to fill the vacant slots. 2009 NANOG charter amendments

The NANOG charter is the document which governs the operation of NANOG, and the relationship between the community and NANOG's hosting organization, Merit Network. The current text is at http://www.nanog.org/governance/charter/ . During the NANOG annual election, voters are given the opportunity to decide on amendments to the NANOG charter. Typically, the amendment process has been used to remedy oversights, modify processes with the benefit of experience, and to correct and tighten language. This year, the election is being held during the NANOG meeting October 18-21 in Dearborn, MI. There are two ways to put an amendment on the ballot: - Vote by a majority of the Steering Committee - A petition signed by at least 30 eligible voters, and submitted by September 28, 2009. If you have any suggestions for amendments, or would like to comment on NANOG governance in general, please join the discussion on the nanog-futures list, or contact the Steering Committee or any of its members directly. Folks, Just a brief reminder of upcoming dates of interest - The NANOG PC will be posting an updated agenda for NANOG 47 after our 09/08/2009 call - The registration fee for NANOG 47 increases to US$525 on 09/14/2009 - Nominations for the NANOG PC open today, 09/08/2009 - Voting for the 2009/2010 NANOG SC closes at 13:00 EDT on 10-21-09.
