The nominations for the NANOG Committee (formerly known as the Mailing List Committee) close today, October 29. As Steve said in his last note, the new direction from the recent amendments means this is a chance to break new ground for NANOG and help define the future path for this team. If you are interested or know someone who is, please send the nomination to <nominations(a)nanog.org>. If you are being nominated, please be prepared to confirm your interest and provide some bio data and a statement of interest (like those up on http://www.nanog.org/governance/elections/2009elections/2009mlc_candidates.…) before the Steering Committee meets on 3 November. NANOG 47 wrap-up (and survey reminder!)

Thanks again to everyone who attended NANOG 47 in Dearborn, or watched remotely. Arbor Networks and Merit Network were wonderful hosts, and the Program Committee and presenters combined to give us an excellent program. Special thanks also go to the ARIN staff, who worked closely with Merit and the PC to produce a successful week of meetings. A reminder to those of you who participated: please fill out the meeting survey, at http://tinyurl.com/nanog47. We depend on that information to provide you with useful and high-quality meetings. I look forward to seeing everyone again at NANOG 48 on February 21-24, 2010 in Austin, Texas. The call for presentations will be announced soon, and registration will open next week. Nominations for the Communications Committee (formerly known as the Mailing List Committee) remain open until October 29. With the recent charter amendment, this committee has a unique opportunity to help shape the presence of NANOG on the web, collaboration and social media platforms, and other forms of electronic communications beyond the mailing list. If you are interested or know someone else who is, please make a nomination by sending a message to nominations(a)nanog.org. Also, this past Wednesday the new Steering Committee met for the first time to welcome our new members, Sylvie LaPerrière and Duane Wessels and to thank our outgoing members, Chris Morrow and Jared Mauch. During this meeting, I was selected as chair for the coming year. Joe Provo, who has done a great job as chair for the past year, will be vice chair. The NANOG Steering Committee is pleased to announce that these people have been chosen to fill the eight open seats on the Program Committee: - Cathy Aronson - Jim Cowie - Barry Greene - Mohit Lad - Chris Morrow - Kevin Oberman - Dani Roisman - Sonia Sakovich With eighteen candidates this year, the decisions were more difficult than usual. So we want to give special thanks those who weren't selected for their participation, and to encourage them to try again during the next selection cycle for the PC or other NANOG roles. Hi Everyone: On behalf of Merit, the NANOG SC, PC and MLC we remind you to take advantage of the 2009 Election process. The 2009 SC and Charter amendments Elections are now open, and will remain open until closing at 09:15 EDT on Wednesday, 10-21-09. The Ballot is linked from http://nanog.org/governance/elections/2009elections/index.php and will require your NANOG Registration id and password for final access to the ballot. The list of eligible voters is found at http://nanog.org/governance/elections/2009elections/2009_voters.php. If you have any problems with the process, please send a note to elections(a)nanog.org and we will be sure to get right back to you. Also, a reminder, PC Candidate nominations will close on Sunday, 10-19-09 at 9 am. Please get those nominations in, or if you have nominated someone and do not find their name at http://nanog.org/governance/elections/2009elections/2009pc_candidates.php, please send a note to nominations(a)nanog.org. Hey folks! With the increased attention to seasonal flu, as well as the H1N1 novel influenza A strain in 2009, we would like to remind attendees to utilize their best judgment attending NANOG. We recommend visiting the CDC.gov and FLU.gov websites for information. If you are sick, please stay home and avoid contact with others and do attend remotely via the streams.
