Norman, I was involved in a couple of projects like this 20 years or so ago, both of them using microwave radio links to cross the border, and ultimately the projects were killed because Telmex, the Mexican government’s telephone monopoly, claim ownership of the rights to cross the border with telecommunications lines. Has that situation changed? Or do you have some kind of government permission now to exchange data across the border? I was always puzzled about how Mexico ever got connected to the Internet at all with such a policy, but we were blocked from doing it using frame relay over microwave. Twice! -mel via cell

I'm the co-owner of a dark and lit fiber trunk across the border between San Diego, California and Tijuana Mexico. If anyone can hit me off-list or even on list if there is interest in helping, were looking to setup ways to interact with other carriers who may need the crossing. We're open to ideas on how to further monetize the circuits beyond its current service usage. We have a ton of strands and a pop on both sides with last mile capabilities. Just seeking ideas or help with this overall.
