Does anybody know if the program has been ported, or re-created there? I have searched the market, but not found anything... at least nothing whose description includes the letters mtr. - jra -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my brevity.

I am not aware of a port of MTR, but I have used an app called TracePing for much of the same functionality. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inflim.trp -DMM
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inflim.trp
it needs all this because? This app has access to these permissions: Your location precise location (GPS and network-based) approximate location (network-based) Network communication full network access view network connections Phone calls read phone status and identity Storage modify or delete the contents of your USB storage Your accounts read Google service configuration Development tools read sensitive log data System tools test access to protected storage Affects Battery prevent device from sleeping randy
Fair point. Have submitted a bug and an rfe; will request clarification if I get a dialog on. Randy Bush <randy@psg.com> wrote:

I've just heard back from traceping's author, Dmitry Yurchenko. He concurs with my bug report (DNS thread blocks ping reception), and likes my 2 RFEs, and hopes to get some time to hammer on the app again Real Soon Now. I have passed Randy's (justifiable) concerns on the permissions along to him, and will report what response I get. ----- Original Message -----

I use Fing app which gives traceroute (not MTR) and has some additional features like scanning of broadcast for other machines as well as wake on LAN trigger etc. Checkout - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overlook.android.fing&hl=en The only bad side is irritating banner which comes in middle at random times.
