So, I underestimated the popularity of the NANOG 45 meeting. <g> We've moved the streams to a SJC and NYC reflector pair. I'm too cheap to implement GSLB or bothering coordinating anycast, so you'll need to self-direct your choice of which POP you'll watch from. HD-lite streams: http://nanog-east.owhost.net:8000 http://nanog-west.owhost.net:8000 Full-HD streams: http://nanog-east.owhost.net:9000 http://nanog-west.owhost.net:9000 Of course, you'll need a player that supports mpeg TS's and h.264. Videolan VLC or Mplayer work, others, not so much. Best, -Tk
The HD-lite streams have no sound. On Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 11:24 AM, Anton Kapela <tkapela@gmail.com> wrote:

I was just typing that up. I'm glad I'm not the only one. ----- Andrey Gordon [andrey.gordon@gmail.com] On Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 10:39 AM, Sharlon R. Carty <me@sharloncarty.net>wrote:

the nanog-east stream video and audio are fine for me, in AS 9327.
<aol>me too!</aol> - from a 701 customer connection in IAD/TCO/DCA.
Of course, I'd recommend everyone use the most recent vlc, 0.9.8a, before debugging more. Send me a direct email with output from "debug messages" and let me know what details show in the "stream information" gui dialog. -Tk
One short update. The "full Hd" transcoded streams will be (i.e. :9000) offline for the remainder of the NANOG meeting. The encoder system we were using to provide both the full and hf-lite streams is offline (system trouble). We've switched to a backup system, but it can only provide enough resources for the hd-lite stream. HD-lite streams: http://nanog-east.owhost.net:8000 http://nanog-west.owhost.net:8000 We've also determined there is a VLC bug that prevents mpeg4 audio re-packetization from correctly determining the number of audio channels, thus causing several users with several playback clients from hearing the audio program. The audio codec has been switched to mpeg2 audio, as this avoids the packetizer bug. Hopefully this is fixed. Enjoy, -Tk
