DisneyPlus incorrect geolocation
Good evening all, Might there be someone here from DisneyPlus who can help sort out an incorrect geolocation issue? I’ve got an IPv6 address block that, everywhere I look, is correctly geolocated in Kansas City. But DisneyPlus persistently insists I’m in Herne, Germany. The usual support options are of course clueless. I’ve tried reaching out to their WHOIS contacts and a few others I found but it all seems to go into a black hole. Thanks! ---- Andy Ringsmuth andy@andyring.com Love others, encourage others, help others.
Did you try these? https://www.thebrotherswisp.com/geo-and-vpn RFC8805? On Thu, Jul 30, 2026 at 1:21 PM Andy Ringsmuth via NANOG < nanog@lists.nanog.org> wrote:

You can test to see if it coming from the Akamai GeoIP database by requesting https://whatismyip.akamai.com/advanced from an IP on that block (as www.disneyplus.com is front-ended by Akamai). On Thu, Jul 30, 2026 at 12:21 PM Andy Ringsmuth via NANOG < nanog@lists.nanog.org> wrote:

Can you give the address block? Certain GeoIP databases exist and some may be outdated or wrong. -- Gruß Marco Junk-Mail bitte an trashcan@stinkedores.dorfdsl.de

Sure. 2a11:6c7:2000:6700::/56 I tried the various lookups others referenced and 100 percent of them showed Kansas City (correctly). One of those pages did show DTC.DL-Geoissues@disney.com <mailto:DTC.DL-Geoissues@disney.com> as a contact point. I’ll try that too. ---- Andy Ringsmuth andy@andyring.com Love others, encourage others, help others.

I suppose but that same WHOIS has a geofeed file that says Kansas City.
