Indeed, and that's pretty much the downside of Linux-as-a-router and a lot of open source options in general. Too much choice can be at minimum overwhelming and even a problem. I've used OpenBSD now for over 20 years as a router at home and in datacenters. CARP and PF and the rest of it are absolutely first class!
