gethostbyname() Also, you're literally changing the on-wire format. That's by definition not backwards compatible with EVERYTHING out there that isn't purely CPU based (which is A LOT). The fact that you don't understand this, means you don't understand the problem space. Your statements are ludicrous to anyone with any kind of non-trivial knowledge how networking works. It'd be like I would write up some documents on how design rockets and try to tell NASA / SpaceX how they should design their space vehicles.
