But do they support SNMP? -- Shields, CrossLink.
Sorry got in late here but I believe this thread started as a RFI on SNMP Pollable Thermometers. You may want to inquire further with American Power Conversion http://www.apcc.com/. They make a component called a Measure-UPS that can monitor temperature and humidity. The unit mounts in an expansion unit and MIB is mapped to temperature and humidity It also has I believe four dry contact switches that can be hooked to a variety of devices. The status of the switches are controlled via dip-switches on the unit as to whether the are normally open or normally closed. I have used the Measure-UPS unit with a microswitch mounted in my remote equipment door. If some on enters a trap is sent and alerts my SNMP manager. I can verify if the entrance is authorized or not. HTH _Thomas

We use it too. We have one of the dry contact switches hooked to a salted sponge that is on the floor. I sure hope I never see a trap from this one. :-) -blast %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% \ Tim Keanini | "The limits of my language, / / | are the limits of my world." \ \ blast@broder.com | --Ludwig Wittgenstein / \ +================================================/ |Key fingerprint = 7B 68 88 41 A8 74 AB EC F0 37 98 4C 37 F7 40 D6 | / PUB KEY: http://www-swiss.ai.mit.edu/~bal/pks-commands.html \ %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

IMHO parking a Merc inside your NOC to tell the temperature is overkill. Alex Bligh Xara Networks
I can't imagine what the cost of colo would be [inside the Merc]. You've got separate environment controls and emergency [the windows] reduced noise and vibration. Mobility, disaster recovery. Its a dream with a spare tire. -Deepak. On Mon, 16 Jun 1997, Dave Bartlett wrote:

yes, but it gives a whole new meaning to the term network status.
