Well, that's certainly something. :-) It would at least get us back to ~31,500 prefixes. - paul

Ummm - my routers are seeing 40K routes, not 38K. In any case, 33.5K is a lot better than 40K. --asp@partan.com (Andrew Partan)
Remember, this just looks at the classful routes and tries to cidrize them at the origin AS level. It assumes no holes either so it's quite possible to get a lot more back. Yes there are 31K classful routes. That's either a lot of legacy or not a lot of aggregation. --Tony Andrew Partan <asp@partan.com> writes: * > >ASnum NetsNow NetsCIDR NetGain % Gain Description * > >Total 30892 24442 6450 20.9% * > * > It would at least get us back to ~31,500 prefixes. * * Ummm - my routers are seeing 40K routes, not 38K. Given that the routing table stood at 28000 when CIDRD was killed off, I'd say that there have either been some recent classful allocations, or a lot of ancient networks suddenly getting advertised.

Or a lot less care and letting classful size announcments leak out and not aggregating to the allocation folks were given. To highlight I pick the last 50 classful entries I see in the 193, 198 and 206 range just to give a random sample and to illustrate. 193 --- 193.242.111.0 in AS3344 193.242.192.0 in AS1717 193.246.40.0 in AS3215 193.246.41.0 in AS3215 193.246.42.0 in AS3215 193.246.43.0 in AS3215 193.246.44.0 in AS3215 193.246.45.0 in AS3215 193.246.46.0 in AS3215 193.246.47.0 in AS3215 193.246.95.0 in AS1836 193.247.240.0 in AS3303 193.248.174.0 in AS3215 193.248.213.0 in AS3215 193.248.214.0 in AS3215 193.248.248.0 in AS3215 193.252.16.0 in AS3215 193.252.17.0 in AS3215 193.252.18.0 in AS3215 193.252.19.0 in AS3215 193.252.20.0 in AS3215 193.252.64.0 in AS3215 193.252.65.0 in AS3215 193.252.66.0 in AS3215 193.252.67.0 in AS3215 193.252.68.0 in AS3215 193.252.69.0 in AS3215 193.252.70.0 in AS3215 193.252.71.0 in AS3215 193.252.72.0 in AS3215 193.252.73.0 in AS3215 193.252.74.0 in AS3215 193.252.75.0 in AS3215 193.252.76.0 in AS3215 193.252.77.0 in AS3215 193.252.78.0 in AS3215 193.252.79.0 in AS3215 193.252.82.0 in AS3215 193.252.156.0 in AS3215 193.252.157.0 in AS3215 193.252.244.0 in AS3215 193.252.245.0 in AS3215 193.252.246.0 in AS3215 193.252.247.0 in AS3215 193.252.248.0 in AS3215 193.252.251.0 in AS3215 193.252.252.0 in AS3215 193.252.253.0 in AS3215 193.252.254.0 in AS3215 193.255.146.0 in AS2592 198 --- 198.250.94.0 in AS568 198.250.95.0 in AS568 198.250.180.0 in AS3381 198.251.30.0 in AS3561 198.252.136.0 in AS174 198.252.146.0 in AS3149 198.252.148.0 in AS3149 198.252.149.0 in AS1239 198.252.157.0 in AS3447 198.252.158.0 in AS3447 198.252.159.0 in AS701 198.252.165.0 in AS6174 198.252.166.0 in AS6174 198.252.167.0 in AS6174 198.252.168.0 in AS6174 198.252.169.0 in AS6174 198.252.172.0 in AS6536 198.252.175.0 in AS3561 198.252.177.0 in AS701 198.252.182.0 in AS1791 198.252.184.0 in AS1784 198.252.187.0 in AS3971 198.252.193.0 in AS174 198.252.200.0 in AS1794 198.252.201.0 in AS1790 198.252.206.0 in AS560 198.252.210.0 in AS1982 198.252.211.0 in AS1798 198.252.223.0 in AS4208 198.252.226.0 in AS4208 198.252.227.0 in AS560 198.252.228.0 in AS560 198.252.231.0 in AS1798 198.252.237.0 in AS6078 198.253.253.0 in AS568 198.254.0.0 in AS174 198.254.1.0 in AS174 198.254.2.0 in AS174 198.254.3.0 in AS174 198.254.4.0 in AS174 198.254.5.0 in AS174 198.254.6.0 in AS174 198.254.7.0 in AS174 198.254.8.0 in AS174 198.254.9.0 in AS174 198.254.10.0 in AS174 198.254.13.0 in AS174 198.254.14.0 in AS174 198.254.15.0 in AS174 198.254.34.0 in AS701 206 --- 206.243.216.0 in AS560 206.243.218.0 in AS560 206.243.222.0 in AS560 206.243.224.0 in AS560 206.243.225.0 in AS560 206.243.226.0 in AS560 206.243.227.0 in AS560 206.243.228.0 in AS560 206.243.229.0 in AS560 206.243.230.0 in AS560 206.243.231.0 in AS560 206.243.232.0 in AS560 206.243.233.0 in AS560 206.243.234.0 in AS560 206.243.235.0 in AS560 206.243.236.0 in AS560 206.243.237.0 in AS560 206.243.238.0 in AS560 206.243.239.0 in AS560 206.243.240.0 in AS560 206.243.242.0 in AS560 206.243.244.0 in AS560 206.243.246.0 in AS560 206.245.42.0 in AS2386 206.246.83.0 in AS3491 206.246.128.0 in AS3669 206.249.78.0 in AS6437 206.249.80.0 in AS6437 206.249.87.0 in AS4200 206.249.112.0 in AS4200 206.249.113.0 in AS4200 206.249.114.0 in AS4200 206.249.115.0 in AS4200 206.249.182.0 in AS4200 206.249.183.0 in AS4200 206.250.25.0 in AS4200 206.250.26.0 in AS4200 206.250.40.0 in AS4200 206.250.41.0 in AS4200 206.250.192.0 in AS4200 206.250.193.0 in AS4200 206.250.200.0 in AS4200 206.250.201.0 in AS4200 206.250.203.0 in AS2041 206.250.205.0 in AS4200 206.250.249.0 in AS4200 206.250.250.0 in AS4200 206.251.192.0 in AS6233 206.251.193.0 in AS6233 206.251.194.0 in AS6233
