Dear NANOG Community, Can anyone help with any device information that provides redundancy for business internet access? In other words when the internet provided through the cable modem fails the 4G/LTE takes over automatically to provide internet access to the client. Thank you KARIM M.

New player in this space is Ubiquiti: https://unifi-lte.ui.com - more suited for branch office applications IMO, but the setup couldn’t be easier. Expect this space to grow dramatically. -Ben Cannon CEO 6x7 Networks & 6x7 Telecom, LLC ben@6by7.net <mailto:ben@6by7.net>

I was excited for that UBNT solution when I first saw it on the beta forum… then I saw that there is an eSIM with no SIM slot, and you’re locked to AT&T. Have you seen the price plan? $15 MRC w/1GB, $10 for each additional GB….. Maybe this would be great for some users, but not our users… I’ll wait for Gen2 with a SIM slot. -Chris From: NANOG <nanog-bounces+ctrudeau=nitelusa.com@nanog.org> On Behalf Of Ben Cannon Sent: Tuesday, January 28, 2020 7:18 PM To: Brandon Svec <bsvec@teamonesolutions.com> Cc: NANOG Operators' Group <nanog@nanog.org> Subject: Re: Backup over 4G/LTE New player in this space is Ubiquiti: https://unifi-lte.ui.com - more suited for branch office applications IMO, but the setup couldn’t be easier. Cradlepoint is probably the biggest player in this space. On Tue, Jan 28, 2020 at 5:31 PM K MEKKAOUI <amekkaoui@mektel.ca> wrote:

There are lots of options to solve that problem. Peplink, 128T, Viptela (Cisco), Velocloud (VMWare), etc. Scott Helms On Tue, Jan 28, 2020 at 6:31 PM K MEKKAOUI <amekkaoui@mektel.ca> wrote:

Yes, the 510 has LTE options for both North American and Asian frequencies (separate boxes). They can hold 2 SIMs but only one can be active at a time. -- Shawn On Wed, Jan 29, 2020, at 8:44 PM, Colton Conor wrote:

I do this with Accelerated devices tied to Juniper SRXes as well as Velocloud VCEs depending on the customer's other needs. Increasingly common application. -- Shawn On Wed, Jan 29, 2020, at 8:08 AM, Alain Hebert wrote:

In the past couple of years, we deployed CradlePoint IBR650's and IBR600's (with and without wifi respectively). It's a configurable mini-router that can also accept wired access. There is an on-board SIM slot. Downside is that the unit is a bit expensive as a CPE. Lately we have been deploying Proxicast PocketPort units. These have an RJ45 jack at one end, USB port on the other, with no built-in cell antenna. So you'll need a USB 4G/LTE dongle in addition. Those PocketPorts are a bit more limited in terms of config, but they work for our use case and are less expensive overall than CradlePoint. If you want to stick with a router from big C, I've also worked with the newer C1111-8PLTEEA which has an onboard SIM slot. We tested them but didn't put them in production due to cost. HTH! -Brian On 2020-01-28 17:30, K MEKKAOUI wrote:
