Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/2.0 Server at www.cisco.com Port 80 I think someone's going to get in big trouble. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Lewis | I route Senior Network Engineer | therefore you are Atlantic Net | _________ http://www.lewis.org/~jlewis/pgp for PGP public key_________

Nothing -- but in the world of GSLB where different people get handed different IPs, its important to say which www.cisco.com is working :-) W

Because it might resolve to several different IP addresses or is in the process of changing to a different IP and only one host might have been impacted by whatever was going on at the time. e.g. if someone says www.microsoft.com is not working, it might help to know what IP they were talking to at the time... [smtp1]# host www.microsoft.com www.microsoft.com is an alias for toggle.www.ms.akadns.net. toggle.www.ms.akadns.net is an alias for g.www.ms.akadns.net. g.www.ms.akadns.net is an alias for lb1.www.ms.akadns.net. lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.199.30 lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.225.60 lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.18.30 lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.19.30 lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.19.60 lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.20.30 lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.20.60 lb1.www.ms.akadns.net has address 207.46.198.60 [smtp1]# ---Mike

Works fine for me. And a 403 Forbidden is a web server error, not a resolution error if I remember right. Correct. Someone made a boo-boo on some component of www.cisco.com, i.e. changed a chunk of the web server configuration or broke the permissions on some piece of the underlying document tree. www.cisco.com loads fine from here, but maybe the issue has already been resolved... jms
