In the interest of clarification, this comes from one of our providers: Customer Notifications - Updates The fiber cut has been isolated to a location 10 miles west of Montville Ohio. The fiber is owned by MFS. (MCI / WorldCom). The matter has been escalated to VP level with MFS. So there is an MFS fiber cut somewhere in Ohio that is affecting several North American Networks. Which Montville? There are two townships named Montville in Northern Ohio, one 30 miles east of Cleveland in the corner of Geauga County, the other one about the same distance *west* of Cleveland in Lorain county. Can't speak for the Montville in Lorain County, but my parents live in the Montville in Geauga County. I'd be extremely interested in knowing what's going on out there. I want to know exactly what's going on that would require digging in the middle of nowhwere. :) -- North Shore Technologies JustTheNet Dialup Internet Access Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Geauga Co., Lake Co., Portage Co., Lorain Co., OH Nationwide Access coming soon! There is rumor that they found Jimmy Hoffa's DNA while doing some US Army Corps of Engineers ground samples. They're trying to dig him up so put him on trial post-*HUMOROUSLY*... They're pretty sure his rotting corpse is the cause of this weeks cancer scare at the local highschool.
Here is what I have recieved thus far: Updated By: psarrate at 09-29-1999 19:24 GMT The teleco reports that the cut may have been caused by gas company workers while they were doing construction work in the area. Estimated time to repair (ETR) is 4 to 6 hours. The reason for this extened time is because there is not enough slack in the cable to bring the two cut ends together. An additional section of fiber is needed to make the splice. The needed fiber is hours away and needs to be trucked in. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Russell Briggs TEL: 512-682-7705 Senior Network Engineer PGR: 512-603-0087 CyberCorp, Inc.
