Looking for hosted SMTP service for small ISP
Hello, We are a small ISP. Most of our customers have a hosted e-mail service (gmail/office365/etc..) and have their own outgoing email sorted. But a handful of customers rely on our SMTP server for outgoing e-mail. Currently we host this our self with a physical box. But I would like to have a hosted solution so that I don't have to worry about keeping up with updates and latest spam techniques. Preferred I'm looking to make a DNS name like smtp.example.com and point this to a hosted solution. This excepts any email from our IP ranges. All controlled with a nice dashboard. I was in contact with Solarwinds (Mail Assure) but they don't seem to be able to help. Chiel
DuoCircle has been great to me. $4/month will get you 2500 outbound emails. They (of course) have plans above that. I've had no deliverability issues since using them. It's also really easy to set up. You can also do up to 1000 outbound messages for free, which is a good test. I have a referral link, if you like them and want to help me out, let me know and I'll send it to you. ~Jon On 2021-01-14 6:18 a.m., chiel wrote:

Check out sendgrid.net -- J. Hellenthal The fact that there's a highway to Hell but only a stairway to Heaven says a lot about anticipated traffic volume.

Be mindful that there is and has been a concerted effort to block parts of SendGrid. There's even a relatively new RBL -- which started because of SendGrid -- specifically for blocking some of their worse customers. Many people in the effort have been advocating for simply blocking SendGrid completely. -- Grant. . . . unix || die

I recommend the latter course. I have spam samples from SendGrid going back to 2010 and continuing to the present, including spam to never-existed addresses. They've had 10 years to figure out how not to spam -- something that should take less than 10 minutes -- and they still haven't managed it. ---rsk

Is this really outgoing only, or are you also providing mailboxes for incoming mail? An obvious question if you're not handling incoming mail is why don't they use their own mail provider (the one that handles mail for the domain on their From line) as their outgoing host? If you're looking for mail hosting at modest scale, I've been pretty happy with Tucows white label service. If it's outgoing only I would not recommend sendgrid who are chronically unable to manage their compromised and spamming customers. smtp.com might be a little better. R's, John
We use postmarkapp.com for our transactional and marketing outbound. It works extremely well and has excellent diagnostics. We've been with them a few years.
