That depends on aisle spacing. A four post box has some dimension. Depending upon the aisle spacing, it could obstruct an aisle or obstruct access to other equipment. Midmounting works great in properly sized aisles with defined "working sides" etc. I hate it when I catch something on a box that should be in a cabinet but for some reason it was midmounted when it shouldn't have been. Depending on the number of servers, I would just go with a center mount shelf. More flexible and functionality should you remove the server...

Grab some rubber feet (they come with most rack mount network equipment but are rarely used) on the server and you should be ok... If you want, you could over strap the server for better security.

This has worked well for me.
