you know, we all have our outages and i'm not all that embarrased of mine but it would be nice if such messages came from MCI if and when they are necessary. i probably wouldn't complain at all had this message come from a one of my customers (an isp) or one of your customers but it's really a shame to see this kind of message come from a peer (nsp). i would expect the same from other large, and not so large providers and i would expect the same from our noc. As far as I can tell ATT Worldnets backbone service was out from about 6pm eastern daylight time last night until after I went to bed at one am this morning. I could connect to the mercerville pop fine.....however my packets went no where. I called the customer service number and received a not very helpful message about the service being temporarily unavailable after wading through several layers of voicemail menus. the relationship between mci and bbn is one of peering. bbn is no longer a transit customer of internetMCI. we peer with them directly in multiple locations. i can't speak with authority about the relationship between bbn and at&t. i understood that it was one of provider/reseller.
