ok as I dont know but who/what is housed in 25 broadway in regards to equipment? If it goes down how serious an affect will it be?
The generator at 25 Broadway has either failed or been shut down to keep it from totally breaking. It's not exactly clear yet. -- Scott M. Drassinower scottd@cloud9.net Cloud 9 Internet White Plains, NY +1 914 696-4000 / 800 356-5683 http://www.cloud9.net On Thu, 13 Sep 2001, Keith Woodworth wrote:

a bunch of older intl circuits are hauled there and some folk peer privately in 25 broad. i guess we will learn how many of those do not have good alternative paths. would those europeans who do not get this message please reply? :-) randy

Well, I did get it but... The DANTE World Service, which provides international connectivity for several education and research networks within Europe has their kit in 25 Broadway. JANET (the UK research network) is in 60 Hudson and is currently OK. The size of the routing table I'm seeing via Teleglobe at 60 Hudson doesn't appear to have dropped all that much. Could people pretty please not refer to 25 Broadway as 25 Broad? I used to work at 25 Broad Street, which is two short blocks east of Broadway. Real New Yorkers abbr Broadway as Bway. It's bad enough that I used to work at WTC and OLP and 60 Hudson, hearing about trouble at yet another former place of toil/joy drives me nuts, all the more so when it seems it's not the same place at all. Seconded, this has been quite confusing. And if anyone has any information about the telecom building at 75 BROAD STREET I would appreciate it. Matt - -- Matthew S. Power to our kit in the above location has just come back up. Don't know the full story yet. Rob

Anyone know the current situation at Broadway - fuel, power etc. ? I see it is back up but for long ? Dave
Well, the SAIX (South African Internet Exchange) New York router is situated in Telehouse, 25 Broadway, lower Manhattan in New York. This reaches a large chunk of sub-saharin africa. Lucy E. IIRC, Both Teleglobe and CA*Net 3 have routers there too. I detected DANTE routes (some of the European research nets use that) flapping then disappearing. (Makes sense since the peer is there.) I think it also affects connectivity to Abilene at 60 Hudson. wfms
[Apologies in advance if this is NOG but not NANOG, I figured it might be interesting to some of the people around here.]

Indeed. TEN-155 (the European part of DANTE's network) is up and running. However, the peering between TEN-155 and CA*NET3 is down as that uses a circuit that goes through 25 Broadway. DWS (DANTE World Service) is subscribed to by a subset of TEN-155 NRENs (National Research and Education Networks) and provides connectivity to Abilene, ESNET and UUNET. Some (but not all) subscribers do have alternative access. Abilene <--> DWS has been running on a backup circuit since Tuesday afternoon, ESNET <--> DWS was on a circuit that failed Tuesday afternoon, but UUNET had been available almost continually. There was a point where UUNET apparently lost two of their routers which took out three of the four DWS STM-4s, but they reappeared earlier today. However, all of the DWS is currently out until power is restored. Regards, Rob DANTE World Service NOC TEN-155 IP NOC JANET NOSC

Alot of European and other International carriers are in that facility. Whilst Telehouse is down at this time - I'd personally like to acknowledge their high level of professionalism and commitment. Through the worst disaster ever Telehouse have done everything in their power to keep services unaffected and continue to do so. I'm sure that they will restore services soon. Regards, Neil. I'll second that! John Shields has done a fantastic job of getting everyone status updates. Kudos to him and the folks at the site. Charles
