Hmm.. surely emailing everyone hoping for a quick change over for roots on parts of a fragmented root namespace is just asking for the fragments to fragment up some more? :) Steve On Sun, 30 Jun 2002, John Palmer (NANOG Acct) wrote:

it's a joke. i know it isn't april 1, so you have to look for subtleties.
For those of you who add the ORSC style TLDTAGS to your root zone, add these for EACH of the TLDs listed above
IN TXT "<tldtag field='tel' value='+1 (312) 560-3934'>" IN TXT "<tldtag field='url' value='http://www.biztld.net'>" IN TXT "<tldtag field='whois' value='inrs.adns.net/whois.php'>" IN TXT "<tldtag field='org' value='AtlanticRoot Network Inc.'>" IN TXT "<tldtag field='poc' value='Leah Gallegos'>" IN TXT "<tldtag field='email' value='info@adns.net>"
in this case, the suggesion that TXT RR's be put alongside NS RR's *above* the zone cut is your clue that the whole thing is a put-on. i guess this author was being too subtle about it, so you didn't catch the humour. -- Paul Vixie
Sorry Paul, I guess you don't understand how those TLDTAG records work. Its no joke. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Vixie" <vixie@vix.com> To: <nanog@merit.edu> Sent: Sunday, June 30, 2002 7:43 PM Subject: Re: Name Server Change-over completed

Unterminated quoted strings are amusing too. mm
