A quick google and wikipedia check shows... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.cat .cat is a sponsored top-level domain intended to be used to highlight the Catalan language and culture. I think the real question here is why does schroedingers.cat not resolve, and who will be the first person able to jump through the requisite hoops make it do so.
