European/Asian equivalents to NANOG?
There is, of course, worldwide input into the NANOG list. Are there equivalent and active lists for European and Asian ISPs? If so, how does one sign up? I'm giving an European routing tutorial and want to be able to refer students to appropriate lists/web pages on exterior routing in their regions. IEPG, of course, also applies. Thanks. Howard

Here is the same data I provided to a couple others who are trying to reach operational people. They are not perfect but they do reach some set of operations staff. eof-list@ripe.net apops@ripe.net I'll also note that some lists restrict who can subscribe, based on verifiable origin. Note that having world-wide input into NANOG kind of defeats its purpose. --bill

Bill, It would really make sense to have a heirarchy of ops lists, as there are events/issues that have world-wide significance, and those that are more regional in nature. It is the lack of these that results in the 'misuse' of NANOG (plus the fact that most routes still transit the USA :-|). -- Chris Chaundy (Core Engineering Manager) connect.com.au pty ltd, Level 9, 114 Albert Rd, Sth Melbourne, VIC 3205, Aust. Well, it sort of exists already. zanog - (south)Africa nanog - North America eof - European apops - Asia/Pacific Leaving out South America (onlybecauseIdon'tknow) The iepg list covers global coordination, at least from it's CCIRN roots. YMMV. --bill

Yes, that's true. And we are planning to invite some people from outside Japan in future JANOG meetings. Languages are different, but technologies are common! Takashi Arano Nippon Telegraph and Telephone, Corp Email: arano@byd.ocn.ad.jp, Phone:+81-3-5353-2016
Hello Everyone, Here's a summary and some more list. I've dug through my address book to get some more of the ISP Ops list from Asia. Still poking around for more - in case anyone knows of others - hint hint ;-) URLs and other information would be useful. I'll post the summaries. The nearest thing to the NANOG meeting in the Asia Pacific area is the annual APRICOT (Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies ;-) conference, and the organisations associated with this have mailing lists, but the technical/operational content tends not to be as high as with NANOG (well, sometimes ;-) - lots of regional politics and policy issues.
