I am looking for information regarding ISP billing systems and feel this list is a great place to start my research. I want to evaluate next generation billing systems that have the following capabilities at a minimum IP support Usage based billing Robust Security Architecture Real time reporting Creation and management of user accounts Rapid provisioning of service offerings Activity tracking Rating Advanced billing capabilities International capabilities (Spanish a must) I would like to know what vendors play in this space and pro's and con's of any vendors you out there in the industry may have evaluated. Sample RFP's would be extremely helpful but I know that is a stretch. At a minimum, vendor names would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

isp-ceo@isp-ceo.com is a great list for this kind of stuff, other lists are also relevant at www.isp-lists.com BTW: We rolled our own, using PERL and Sybase (11.0.3 for Linux), It doesn't do bandwidth accounting (yet) or Spanish (probably never). It's not hard, and I really think that the capabilities of such systems are crucial to what an internet provider does and how they do it. Hence our approach. My apologies for being a little off-topic for Nanog. --Mike--
ISP invoicing issues are discussed on the mailing list: isp-invoicing@isp-invoicing.com mike harrison wrote:

You'll find a lot of this in Freeside, which may well still be the world's only open source ISP billing software. http://www.sisd.com/freeside/ has info. But yeah, like others said, there are better lists for this. -- J.D. Falk "The Internet isn't just a publishing medium or a Product Manager medium for commerce, it's a social medium."
