I don't know -- I think we could probably afford to lose connectivity to large parts of the APNIC database without major issues; it would probably halve the amount of SPAM we get and the amount of time wasted complaining about it to unresponsibe admins as well. M.
The salient point here is that it's costing revenue. There is only so much of my nose that I will cut off, before I decide to live with my face.
