I could whip up some numbers if folks are interested.
Yes, please do.

Not a likely possiblity. With some of the exchanges, this data is near impossible to gather. I'd be happy to post growth rates in the form of participants. -- --bill
This is a great discussion! Who is going to accummulate and process all this data? steve At 18:51 -0500 11.26.96, Scott Huddle wrote:

This is a great discussion! Who is going to accummulate and process all this data?
As others have noted here today, it is almost impossible to collect statistics on some IXP's due to the nature of their media or the programming of the switches. I wonder if one of our agenda items during the IXP portion of NANOG can be "would y'all be willing to let an IXP-centric Vulture(*) collect statistics about whichever of your router's interfaces connects to the IXP?" It seems to me that if we can't collect full mesh switch port statistics, maybe we could do just as well by collecting data from the ISP routers? (*) see http://www.vix.com/vulture/, and no this is not a commercial.
Of course this would be easier if people (i.e. exchange operators) were using the Dave Siegel, Kim Claffy, and Bill Woodcock stats reporting format. I guess I could pound on exchange operators on this again, but the idea seems to have died off again, until a few days ago. Maybe MCI or Sprint wants to talk to MFS, PacBell, Ameritech, Sprint, etc. about thins again? Maybe some pressure from key customers?
