It's been down three times today, first from 2:58 pm to 5:58 pm Central, and then again from 7:59 pm to 9:58 pm, and then again from 10:59 pm till now. Interesting that the up and downs have been one to two minutes before the hour. I've been seeing the same thing - up and down for the last 3 days. The site has been unreachable approximately 50% of the time according to my monitoring system. The other interesting thing is that the failures did not occur at the same time for all regions. Two of my monitoring nodes are seeing completely different patterns of outages. -- Graham Beneke
Could they be testing switching to v6 on the regular domain? On Apr 13, 2012 2:00 AM, "Graham Beneke" <graham@apolix.co.za> wrote:

I doubt it since no v6 address is listed in dns for facebook.com or www.facebook.com -Grant On Sun, Apr 15, 2012 at 1:44 AM, Kyle Creyts <kyle.creyts@gmail.com> wrote:

Actually www.facebook.com has a AAAA entry when your DNS is whitelisted like with Free.fr $ host www.facebook.com www.facebook.com has address 69.171.242.70 www.facebook.com has IPv6 address 2620:0:1c18:0:face:b00c:: -- Pierre-Yves Maunier
You're using a DNS resolver or coming from a network that's facebook blessed. Note the difference: server:# dig AAAA www.facebook.com @ordns.he.net +short 2620:0:1c18:0:face:b00c:0:3 server:# dig AAAA www.facebook.com @8.8.8.8 +short server:# Frank -----Original Message----- From: Pierre-Yves Maunier [mailto:nanog@maunier.org] Sent: Sunday, April 15, 2012 3:46 AM To: Grant Ridder Cc: nanog@nanog.org Subject: Re: facebook ipv6 is down? Yes, but only to their IPv6-only host name.
