is anyone aware of problems at mae-west? i've not seen anything on the mailing list but the following peers are getting reset every 15-30 minutes on my border router there: 198.32.136.1 4 4553 5640 35253 1009761 0 0 04:38:02 198.32.136.2 4 4553 6222 35267 1009761 0 0 02:37:47 198.32.136.5 4 1740 4957 35247 1009761 0 0 02:36:57 198.32.136.10 4 2041 3330 35168 1009761 0 0 00:09:51 198.32.136.11 4 1239 83187 35106 1009761 1 0 00:09:51 198.32.136.12 4 3561 46357 35154 1009761 5 0 00:09:51 it's *only* these peers and they keep resetting consistantly. the problem started happening after midnight last night i think. i believe at least mci and sprint have dedicated ports on the switch so i dont' understand what's happening. anyone else seeing something similar? -brett

The three mentioned are, respectively, CRL, Sprint, and MCI. Having those three drop would certainly cause a few problems. :-) Likewise on my router, I show a group of about 5 peers that have reset within the last 90 minutes so something seems to have happaned but I couldn't say what.. -Wayne
A few of our were reset as well .. although they've been stable for over an hour now... 198.32.136.15 4 2551 1056937 2988866 75393600 0 0 1:11:33 198.32.136.18 4 4436 291173 2670007 75393600 0 0 1:10:51 198.32.136.20 4 2685 1824689 2960537 75393600 0 0 1:12:41 198.32.136.21 4 4200 991194 2794188 75393600 0 0 1:10:51 198.32.136.25 4 3951 315136 2866855 75393638 0 0 1:10:50 198.32.136.27 4 4544 447829 3026121 75393638 0 0 1:11:23 198.32.136.35 4 5388 331252 2922603 75393648 0 0 1:10:52 198.32.136.38 4 2828 1794399 3147470 75393648 0 0 1:11:23 198.32.136.47 4 2497 410215 2956655 75393648 0 0 1:11:23 198.32.136.49 4 6113 987225 2990660 75393600 0 0 1:10:51 198.32.136.53 4 5000 288708 2640762 75393600 0 0 1:11:23 198.32.136.56 4 3847 750930 2755470 75393638 0 0 1:08:44 -danny

it's *only* these peers and they keep resetting consistantly. the problem started happening after midnight last night i think. i believe at least mci and sprint have dedicated ports on the switch so i dont' understand what's happening.

Some (all?) of those are at Ames. Since Genuity is at 55 S. Market, my suspicion rests on the FIX/MAE OC3. Perhaps it's cycling, or perhaps it is now congested enough that the BGP keepalives aren't getting through (though I thought everybody was running an IOS late enough that BGP keepalives had queuing priority over customer traffic, to prevent just this problem.)
I'm on the AMES side of the MAE and I have not seen any flaps from the route servers. Jim

From what we have heard there are some environmental problems at MAE-W. MFS is working on the problem.
