I just called the Ramada & the Days Inn, both in Silver Spring, MD. Both have rooms during NANOG in the under $100 range. They are about 7-10 minutes walking from the Silver Spring Metro, and it's about 20 minutes ride to Metro Center. You might take a cab while hauling luggage. I'm sure there are lots of other places if you're willing to brave the Metro. [That's a joke -- unlike oh NYC, the WMATA Metrorail is clean, carpeted, and full of folks of all incomes, unwilling to risk the horrors of DC traffic.] -- A host is a host from coast to coast.................wb8foz@nrk.com & no one will talk to a host that's close........[v].(301) 56-LINUX Unless the host (that isn't close).........................pob 1433 is busy, hung or dead....................................20915-1433

Just keep in mind that the Metro is not 24-hour service. It closes down around midnight. If you think you'll be staying late in DC, take note of when the last train home leaves so you don't miss it. -- David
Taxi fare in D.C. can be confusing at times (all those different 'zones'), but it's not too terribly expensive. David Charlap wrote:

True. But keep in mind that Bethesda, Silver Spring and Rosslyn are not in DC, but in MD and VA. Still shouldn't be very expensive, though. -- David
