Try making an ISDN call from one to the other at a 64k rate. If you can get through then there are at least some trunks setup as ESF B8ZS clear channel. I suspect that they are probably some older trunks running AMI D4. The other thing you could do is just ask them. --------------------------------------------- Chad Skidmore Director of Network Engineering Northwest Nexus, Inc. http://www.nwnexus.com 1-888-NWNEXUS

Is there any way to determine if inter-telco links are using robbed bit signaling? Eg from GTE to USwest in the Seattle area.
I suspect RBS may be causing lots of v.90 problems in GTE country in Seattle. But id like to know how to confirm this. And just maybe, get it fixed.

Where's the smiley face? You can't be serious in that last sentance. 2 out of 3 telcos are incapable of configuring circuits properly, and the more they insist the signalling is set a particular way, the better the odds are it's the other way. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Jon Lewis <jlewis@fdt.net> | Spammers will be winnuked or Network Administrator | drawn and quartered...whichever Florida Digital Turnpike | is more convenient. ______http://inorganic5.fdt.net/~jlewis/pgp for PGP public key____

The biggest problem is at least out here on the west coast.. the ILEC and the CLEC's don't check the *Switch* configuration. They check the order, and assume that the order was followed perfectly. I usually ahve to ask 3-10 times before they check the *switch* - and find it wrong.

Many of these telcos had their default translations set up for them years ago by Nortel and AT&T during switch installation, and if there isn't a good switch tech there the telco itself gets to be very reluctant to change them for just a few customers. - Jason Jason Vanick ------------------------------------------ jvanick@megsinet.net Director of Technology Voice: 312-470-9015 x1002 MegsInet, Inc. 225 West Ohio St. Suite #200 Chicago, Il 60610
