Gosh, but who would be interested in T1 access into a NAP, unless their arm was being twisted via some financial arrangement into being at a NAP-of-little-current-value? ;-> (Except maybe someone sold on the idea that bringing a T1 into a NAP is a good way to get global connectivity...) I know someone with a 9.6 link to a certain service provider for the same reason. :-) (Except maybe someone sold on the idea that bringing a T1 into a NAP is a good way to get global connectivity...) Gee Sean, it sounds like someone tried to sell you a bridge^H^H^H^H^Hswitch.

There are some foreign backbone providers that want to connect into one of the US NAP's at T1 speeds...they still would need to buy transit, though, generally speaking, but I don't know that they understand this. I wonder who might fit into your first catagory? I've recently heard this argument. The 400 local ISP's in the NAP metro area who want a common exchange point among themselves. They then make a great collective which can bargin with a long-haul carrier for transit. Not quite what others may have had in mind when the NAPs were formed, but very much in line with one of the original goals of MAE-East nee GIX. --bill

Ahh, Bill. You were not there. That was not one of the original goals of MAE-East. I was there. --asp
Right. My info was second hand. The Guy & Peter filters + Bills thick head must be held responsible for my errors. Or I could blame it on a California PS education. --bill
