There seems to be some sort of failure of the root nameservers involving supernews.com. No records are being returned. Is this problem specific to supernews.com or are other domains affected?

I think it may have something to do with this: root@camel:~> dig ns supernews.com @a.root-servers.net ; <<>> DiG 2.2 <<>> ns supernews.com @a.root-servers.net ; (1 server found) ;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch ;; got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 10 ;; flags: qr aa rd; Ques: 1, Ans: 0, Auth: 1, Addit: 0 ;; QUESTIONS: ;; supernews.com, type = NS, class = IN ;; AUTHORITY RECORDS: COM. 86400 SOA A.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. hostmaster.internic.NET. According to Remarq there was an error on Network Solutions part with supernews.com (which also knocked out supernews.co.uk) - this should be fixed on the next name server reload. Seems than an NSI goof is the problem, but a simple s/supernews\.com/supernews\.net/ will help... from inet-access, where there is some additional discussion: -=- begin excerpt -=- Date: Tue, 6 Jun 2000 08:50:19 -0700 From: Daniel J. Vance <techlists@rvi.net> To: list@inet-access.net Subject: RE: Supernews down? I just talked to someone there. They say that network solutions messed up their domain name supernews.com, everyone can change the cname to point to corp.supernews.net instead of corp.supernews.com -=- end ecerpt -=- No news of it affecting other domains at this point. -jeff -- Jeff Godin Network Specialist Traverse Area District Library / Traverse Community Network jeff@tcnet.org - 231/932-8546 voice
