Exodus GTEI/BBN
The real question is who will pull out first. I do not agree with GTEI/BBN's tactics, but unfortunately they need to do what they need to do.
What I think will happen is that Exodus/GTEI will revert to public peering and this whole thing will just blow over. Neither network would expect to win anything by either refusing to peer at all, or demanding private peering, or demanding a transit relationship. In other words this particular brew-ha-ha is not going to set any precedents. -- Paul Vixie La Honda, CA "Many NANOG members have been around <paul@vix.com> longer than most." --Jim Fleming pacbell!vixie!paul (An H.323 GateKeeper for the IPv8 Network)

What about the people who got letters about shutting off their public peering? What will they revert to? -- Steven O. Noble -- Sr. Backbone Engineer, Exodus Communications (EXDS) -- Work:408.346.2333 -- All my love to the Canadian Mooing Frog.

Would everyone who has received such a letter from some peer and who is running defaultless please send me some mail? I'm willing to go under NDA if that's the only way you can legally part with the information. I'd like to be able to report back to NANOG the number of such events which are now pending, even if I'm disallowed by NDA from naming names. Right now it's just a rumour. I'm willing to help upgrade it to a fact.
