anyone ever get an HWIC-CABLE-D-2 card to work?
I'm grasping at straws here, and reaching out to a wider community to find out if there's anyone out there that's been able to get an HWIC-CABLE-D-2 card to work. I figured it was worth giving one more shot before I call and cancel my Comcast account, as it seems silly to pay for a service I can't use. The card synchronizes with the CMTS system, does all the happy dancing back and forth with ranging, etc. and then just hangs waiting for the TFTP transfer to complete. Tried different cables, removing all splitters, plugging in right at the entry point to the facility...no change. :( Here's the config on the interface: netflight-1841#show run int cable-Modem 0/1/0 Building configuration... Did you have comcast register this card on your account? When you try to browse web do you get redirected like a modem in walled garden state? On Mar 9, 2014 3:46 PM, "Matthew Petach" <mpetach@netflight.com> wrote:

Yes, I read the HFC MAC address off to the comcast account activation people, and they repeated it back to me to make sure it was correct. I can't browse the web because the line protocol state on the interface is still "down"--until the line protocol comes up, there's no ability to send or receive packets. :( If there were a way to force line protocol to come up, and get an IP address on the interface, I might then be able to get to the captive portal; but without a usable IP address on the interface, there's no packet flow happening at layer 3. :( Thanks! Matt
Some cable providers do weird provisioning stuff with different flavors of DOCSIS. Do you know if your HWIC supports the version of DOCSIS your provider runs? It looks like those cards are good for DOCSIS 2.0, and many new providers are 3.0 by now so that may be something to look into..? On 3/9/14, 2:45 PM, "Matthew Petach" <mpetach@netflight.com> wrote:

Comcast does still seem to support DOCSIS 2.0 devices, I know other people that are still using DOCSIS 2.0 devices without issue, so I'm sure it's not just a protocol version number issue. Thanks! Matt
