HI all.... Just making sure if globecomm.net is a spam haven. I receive at least 1 spam mail from this domain every day. William the hours of

Hi, Globecomm is the same as iname.com which is one of those personalized email address services. The last time I saw a huge amount of spam coming through them, it was actually just normal spam going to an email address hosted there which the person reporting the spam had setup and forwarded to their account. The response I got from iname was: --- The spam you have received was not sent by an iName user. It was sent to your iName address, which is the reason that you see globecomm.net in the headers. This spammer has forged the return address, and is switching dialups as fast as the ISP can cut him off. We have contacted each ISP whose dialup has been abused, and are taking further legal action to stop this spam and prevent it from happening again. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for your inconvenience. Please continue to report spamming incidents to abuse@iname.com --- nm On Sat, 24 Oct 1998 william@pacific.net.ph wrote:

Actually globecomm.net (Globecomm Inc.) hosts iName's email alias' etc. So since everyone and their dog has their free email aliases -- they end up on spam lists. Globecomm is merely forwarding it to where the client wanted it to go. >William k\ - ken harris drummer associates || ken@illusion.ca rant child & net.geek || http://ken.montreal.qc.ca

You might consider subscribing to spam-l, as this is quite off topic. Globecomm/INAME provide vanity e-mail addresses and mail forwarding. I'd definitely talk to spam-l about this spam that you got. For info go to http://bounce.to/spam-l -- Steve Sobol [sjsobol@nacs.net] Part-time Support Droid [support@nacs.net] NACS Spaminator [abuse@nacs.net] I'm not paranoid. Nor are any of the people who are out to get me.

Just for the record: Globecomm/iName is _not_ a spam haven, although like any of the other free email companies we have our share of abuse issues. There is a full-time staffer dedicated to dealing with email to abuse@iname.com, and mail to that address should _always_ produce a response. -Nathan J.
