I'm sitting here with most of my MAE-East peers down, expecting chaos and packet loss everywhere. However, generally speaking the world seems to be performing far better than with it up. I can reach Microsoft with no packet loss. When MAE-East was up, record was 75% packet loss ("that's normal" was the response). I'd figured all the other IXPs would be congestion hell. Not from here. Is it just me, or is there a moral here ... -- Alex Bligh GX Networks (formerly Xara Networks)

Well, it _is_ Saturday morning, which is typically a very light time of day traffic-wise. Even connectivity between UUNet and Sprint is good today. Now we just have to figure out how to make it always be Saturday morning. traceroute to tlh.fdt.net (199.44.96.16), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 fdt-gw.fdt.net (205.229.48.1) 8 ms 3 ms 3 ms 2 Loopback0.GW1.JAX1.Alter.Net (137.39.2.111) 13 ms 49 ms 28 ms 3 131.Hssi3-0.CR1.ATL1.Alter.Net (137.39.59.250) 125 ms 57 ms 53 ms 4 109.Hssi6-0.CR1.CHI1.Alter.Net (137.39.30.177) 75 ms 40 ms 42 ms 5 411.atm11-0.br1.chi1.alter.net (137.39.13.101) 40 ms 111 ms 91 ms 6 gw14-chi-8-0.sprintlink.net (137.39.250.6) 57 ms 64 ms 106 ms 7 sl-kc-2-H3/0-T3.sprintlink.net (144.228.10.70) 73 ms 74 ms 62 ms 8 sl-kc-2-P8/0/0-155M.sprintlink.net (144.232.2.70) 63 ms 50 ms 53 ms 9 144.232.8.77 (144.232.8.77) 178 ms 136 ms 148 ms 10 sl-fw-14-F0/0.sprintlink.net (144.228.30.14) 122 ms 139 ms 181 ms 11 sl-scfl-1-H-T3.sprintlink.net (144.228.134.10) 195 ms 191 ms 172 ms 12 cisco12-f0.tlxd.sprintans.net (199.44.9.36) 196 ms 218 ms 192 ms 13 cisco3-e0.tlxa.sprintans.net (199.44.5.20) 276 ms 303 ms 251 ms 14 199.44.164.14 (199.44.164.14) 185 ms 181 ms 226 ms 15 jabba.tlh.fdt.net (199.44.96.16) 214 ms 201 ms 155 ms ------------------------------------------------------------------ Jon Lewis <jlewis@fdt.net> | Unsolicited commercial e-mail will Network Administrator | be proof-read for $199/message.
