I guess some consider the birth of the internet as communication between two computers at different sites through the IMPs instead of just the first communication between the UCLA computer and IMP #1, which is still in Dr. Leonard Kleinrock's office. I would tend to agree with Dr Klienrock's web page, though, which says of Sept 2, 1969: Fortunately, the team had done its job well and bits began moving between the UCLA computer and the IMP that same day. By the next day they had messages moving between the machines. THUS WAS BORN THE ARPANET, AND THE COMMUNITY WHICH HAS NOW BECOME THE INTERNET! A link to the event: http://internetanniversary.cs.ucla.edu Hope to see a lot of you there... scott ...and The Thing said "lo". It crashed on "g". :-)
