Statement by the National Science Foundation WASHINGTON, May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a statement by NSF spokeswoman Beth Gaston: The National Science Foundation is pleased that Congress has enacted, and the President has signed, a bill which enables the National Science Foundation (NSF) to use money collected in the domain name Internet Intellectual Infrastructure Fund to support Internet-related activities. The money, which totals approximately $60 million, will allow the NSF to support a large number of Next Generation Internet and related networking projects, including: support of connections to the NSF's very high performance Backbone Network Service (vBNS), research to develop applications that use high performance networking, and research into improving networking technology.
