Let's not forget that the problem is poor router/protocol design and that it can be solved. CIDR is a band-aid.
CIDR is a hell of a lot more than a band-aid. It extends the life of IP v4 for an indiscriminate amount of time, and while v6 may be just around the corner [according to some sources], the same type of CIDR mechanisms will still be needed. Let's not be naive. - paul
