Umm.. if you explicitly put it in the public domain, you*can't* do it. You no longer have a way to say "by copying this, you agree not to sue us down to our skivvies". That's why the BSD and X11 distributions had copyrights at all - public domain would probably have served their political goals just fine except for the inability to disclaim liability by hanging it off the copyright (which they wouldn't have if they put it in public domain).
