In reality, ICANN has had very little impact on the big-8 providers. They are not even the first to span RIRs. However, I do find it interesting that the reporter found it significant to count the domain names under Verio, as if they were assets. Since the name belongs to the registrant and not necessarily to Verio, they are not assets of Verio. Granted, it does indicate the amount of bandwidth Verio is responsible for.
