As the dust settles, it appears that one new Root Name Server Confederation can be added to the world Round Table. Hopefully, each Root Name Server Confederation can present 2 delegates to represent the confederation. Here are the likely candidates. ===================================== AlterNIC - (4 servers) ........Eugene Kashpureff ........iPOC Member ?? eDNS - (5 servers) ........Karl Denninger ........Chris Ambler InterNIC (9 servers - U.S. Government, et. al.) ........Dr. Joseph Bordogna (NSF) ........William Schrader (PSI) name.space - (12 servers) ........Paul Garrin ........??? NSI/ISI - (4 servers) ........Gabe Battista (NSI) ........Jon Postel (ISI) uDNS - (3 servers) ........Ron Kimball ........Richard Shu ===================================== As these confederations take shape, these delegates can help to bring synchronization between all of the Root Name Server confederations so that collisions do not occur in the TLD name space. So far, many of these delegates seem to be very responsive to maintaining "synch". Of course some refuse to discuss matters in public. The general public (via ISPs) will eventually be able to select which Root Name Server Confederations are working together to build a better Internet. The people hiding in their ivory university towers will become irrelevant. -- Jim Fleming Unir Corporation http://www.Unir.Corp
