Depending on your internet connection to be able to dial 911 is a bit foolhardy, to put it nicely. It pays off to have a phone that's only powered through the phone line itself, for emergencies (and your everyday home phone calls *gasp*). Especially in a country where power outages are as frequent as full moons. The good old land line hardly ever goes down. And you may find the audio quality is better too.
