About half of my devices, including all the VOIP phones, do not have DNS. I just cannot afford to lose the phones if there is a DNS failure. They have DHCP, but not DNS.
I usually set these up with DHCP-registered DNS names for the phones. (Dynamic DNS) It works pretty well. I’m not sure how giving them DNS names makes them less resilient to DNS failures. Owen
