The salient point here is that it's costing revenue. There is only so much of my nose that I will cut off, before I decide to live with my face.

I don't know -- I think we could probably afford to lose connectivity to large parts of the APNIC database without major issues; it would probably halve the amount of SPAM we get and the amount of time wasted complaining about it to unresponsibe admins as well.
