Carl, NANOG stands for North American Network Operators' Group. It is for people who operate the core networks of the Internet to discuss operational issues. Very rarely does DNS ever become an operational issue so there is no point in discussing this at a NANOG meeting. Most of the people on the NANOG list have no responsibilities for registering or maintaining domain names. Try one of the Internet World shows.
