If you consider 10Gbps packet captures cards, there are : -2 OEMS (all the appliances are built around these) a) Napatech NT20E http://www.napatech.com/products/capture_adapters/2x10g_pcie_nt20e.html b) Endace DAG 9.2X2 http://www.endace.com/dag-9.2x2-packet-capture-card.html -3 ODMs a) INVEA-TECH NIFIC http://www.invea-tech.com/products-and-services/nific-appliance b) CESNET MTPP10-V5 http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.ces.net/project/qosip/hw/mt pp10-v5.pdf c) NTT Advanced Technology PRESTA 10G http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.internet2.edu/presentations /jt2010feb/20100201-sebayashi.pdf --- Joel.Snyder@Opus1.COM wrote: From: Joel M Snyder <Joel.Snyder@Opus1.COM> To: nanog@spoofer.com, nanog <nanog@nanog.org> Subject: Re: Niksun Probe Date: Mon, 19 Apr 2010 16:16:57 -0700
There is also the INVEA-TECH Flowmon :
That's a radically different thing. Niksun, NetWitness, Solera are all about capturing lots of packets at very high speed. INVEA-TECH is a NetFlow kind of thing. Totally different; tells you completely different things about your network. If you want flows, there's LOTS of great products for flow monitoring, starting with Cisco and moving your way out through both open source and commercial products. But if you are considering Niksun, then flows are not what you're after. Packets are what you're after. jms -- Joel M Snyder, 1404 East Lind Road, Tucson, AZ, 85719 Senior Partner, Opus One Phone: +1 520 324 0494 jms@Opus1.COM http://www.opus1.com/jms _____________________________________________________________ Get your own *free* email address like this one from www.OwnEmail.com
