For everybody who wants to dabble in politics that people on this list actually care about ;) Greets, Jeroen -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Deadline TOMORROW to Apply to Represent the "Technical Community" at the Brazil Meeting and in 1Net Date: Thu, 09 Jan 2014 16:04:01 -0000 From: CircleID: Dan York <rss2email@example.org> Deadline TOMORROW to Apply to Represent the "Technical Community" at the Brazil Meeting and in 1Net <http://www.circleid.com/posts/20140109_deadline_tomorrow_to_apply_to_represent_technical_community_1net/> Are you interested in being a representative of the "technical community" to the "/Global Multistakeholder Meeting on the Future of Internet Governance/” happening in April 2014 in Brazil? Or would you like to represent the technical community on the "1net Steering Committee" that is guiding the future of the 1net initiative <http://1net.org/>? If so, *THE DEADLINE IS TOMORROW, Friday, January 10, 2014*, to submit your expression of interest in being considered for a role on those committees. More information about the process and how to apply can be found below. In the preparation for the Brazil meeting, the task of coordinating representatives of "the Internet technical community" was delegated to my employer, the Internet Society <http://www.internetsociety.org/>, and while I personally have had no involvement in this effort, my colleague Constance Bommelaer, Senior Director, Global Policy Partnerships, has been circulating this message below to relevant mailing lists and other forums. I'm posting it here as I think that readers in the CircleID community might also be excellent candidates to apply for these positions: * * * The Internet Society (ISOC) is coordinating the process leading to appointments to represent the Internet technical community in two of the "Brazil Planning Committees" and in the "1net Steering Committee". The "Brazil Planning Committees" will contribute to the preparation of a "/Global Multistakeholder Meeting on the Future of Internet Governance/” that will be held on 23 and 24 April 2014, in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The two major tasks of "1net Steering Committee" will be (1) to liaise with stakeholder communities and encourage participation and submission of productive ideas with respect to Internet governance issues; and (2) to steer, manage, and otherwise lead the activities of the 1net platform towards a productive understanding and possibly consensus with respect to these issues. Individuals interested in being suggested by the NomCom set up for this purpose are invited to read more about the process and the timeline here: http://www.internetsociety.org/sites/default/files/Call1netBR-ForPublication... The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is *10 January 2014*.
